Welcome to the Hinterland Model Flying Club
HINTERLAND MODEL FLYING CLUB (HMFC) is a club of about 100 members with ages varying from 11 to 92 and multiple different flying and building experience.
Model aircraft flown by the members including powered fixed wing (both electric and nitro models), helicopters and gliders.
Currently the HMFC club is at Coomera on the north end of the Gold Coast and the strip is available every day of the week.
We are presently located on Shipper Drive, in Coomera but after some 38 years at this site we will be moving to a new site sometime in 2026. At the moment the new field is mowed and ready to fly on but there are no facilities there yet (Pits or shade) and we don't know when this will be available. If the new site is not ready when we have to move from Shipper Drive then we may be able to use an alternative field at Zipf's Park as a temporary measure until such time as our new field is available. The problem with Zipf's Park is that it is a cricket ground and would not be available at weekends especially in the Summer months.
Experienced pilots and instructors are on hand to help beginners and experienced pilots alike with a good sense of camaraderie, fun and a shared passion for flying. The club welcomes anyone interested in learning more about this hobby to contact us and arrange a visit to the field. The club has a trainer plane available to help learn the techniques of flying a model plane. We also welcome members of other flying clubs to visit and fly with us. Note that the HMFC is an affiliate of the Model Aeronautical Association of Queensland (MAAQ)

As stated above the club has been given notice that we must leave the William Guise Foxwell Park sometime in 2026 as the land has been sold to the local marina. The committee plus some members, together with the Gold Coast Council, have been looking at potential sites for us to move to and has settled on a park in Prairie Road in Ormeau. No facilities are available at this field yet but we are working with the Council to see what can be provided.
Next dam day is Tuesday 7th April 2026 at the Western Boat Ramp, Hinze Dam. What3words reference pounds.sometimes.imitated
